For children with parents serving in our military
For children with parents serving in our military,
Being away from your mom or dad is one of the toughest things I can imagine. But know that your parents are doing a brave and essential job for our country.
When you feel sad or lonely, please remember that there are many people in your life you can talk with about your feelings or worries. Your grandparents, your aunts and uncles, your cousins, your neighbors, your friends and your teachers want to help you.
And you are not the only one – there are many children around our country whose parents are serving and, who like you, are counting the days until their mom or dad returns.
Your friends on Sesame Street have made a video about a young Elmo, whose dad had to go away too. Elmo and his dad missed each other terribly, but they talked on the phone, wrote letters, sent pictures and saw each other over the Internet. They thought of each other every day until Elmo’s father was able to return to Sesame Street.

I am very proud of your parents, and proud of you.
