Service Academy NominationsFor information on the individual academies:
Applicants must be U.S. citizens, single, at least seventeen (but not yet twenty-three) as of the date classes begin and residents of the 6th Congressional District. Nominees are selected by the 6th District Commission on Congressional Appointments. The Commissioners are distinguished residents of the 6th District from all walks of life who review all applications and interview applicants. Interested students can request an application by contacting one of Representative Petri's offices by October 15, 2010 to begin in the summer of 2011. You may also download the application here. They should also register to take either the ACT or SAT. Every September, Congressman Petri co-hosts Academy Day in Oshkosh for students and parents to learn more about applying to the U.S. Service Academies. Please note that Representative Petri does not have nominating authority
to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (New London, Connecticut). Admission is on
a competitive basis and application should be made directly to the Academy.
