Plainfield Receives Additional Rural
Development Funds

WASHINGTON – Congressman Tom Petri reports that the U.S. Department of Agriculture has awarded a $2,310,500 loan and a $1,890,000 grant to the Village of Plainfield to construct an aerated lagoon with spray irrigation. The existing lagoon will be rehabilitated and converted into an effluent storage lagoon. Existing lift stations will be reconstructed as well.

The project will also include extending water and sewer to approximately 35 unserved users for a total of 451 users affected by the project.

The latest announcement follows an announcement on April 15 which was identical except that the earlier report was for a $270,000 loan and a $110,000 grant. Petri explained that the April 15 announcement was for the part of the project which will provide drinking water to additional residences whereas the latest award is for upgrading the sewer treatment plant and extending sewer lines to additional residences.

The loan terms are 40 years at 4.375 percent.
