Oshkosh Receives $600,000 Clean-Up Grants from
the Environmental Protection Agency

WASHINGTON -- Congressman Tom Petri reports that the City of Oshkosh has been awarded $600,000 by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to help clean up contaminated industrial sites.

"We need to prepare these prime sites for redevelopment so they can once again help provide good jobs for the community," Petri said.

In total, there are three grants, each worth $200,000. The first will continue a hazard assessment program along the Fox riverfront. The second and third grants will help fund the clean-up of Parcel J of the Marion Road Redevelopment Area and of the Mercury Marine property.

"The last two require a 20 percent match from the city," said Kristin Bales, the Principal Planner of the City of Oshkosh's Planning Division. "These are right on the Fox River - right in the heart of the downtown area."
