Fox Valley Metro Police Win Security Grant for Local Schools

WASHINGTON -- U.S. Rep. Tom Petri reports that the Fox Valley Metropolitan Police Department will receive an $18,675 federal grant to enhance school security.

"The funds will be used to install video cameras and recording equipment in the Little Chute middle and high schools. There are also some radios and headsets for 'event' security. The elementary school will get a new front door and vestibule which will direct visitors into the school office rather than areas with a lot of kids," said Petri.

"The Kimberly School District will also get cameras, probably in the middle and high schools," he said.

"It's a Secure Our Schools grant provided through the Justice Department's Community Oriented Policing program, and I'm very glad Kimberly and Little Chute are getting the funds. This will help ensure the safety of the students and staff, and deter property crimes, whether against individuals or school property," Petri said.
