Secretary Busalacchi Praises Petri for Highway Work

WASHINGTON - Congressman Tom Petri has received an award from the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials for his leadership in advancing the nation's highway system. Petri is Vice Chairman of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, and the Chairman of the Highways, Transit and Pipelines Subcommittee.

Following the award presentation Tuesday evening at a Washington reception held to mark the 50th anniversary of the U.S. Interstate System, Wisconsin Department of Transportation Secretary Frank J. Busalacchi said, "The Congressman has been a great advocate for the state of Wisconsin."

"I appreciate the fact that I can come out here to Washington and meet with him and sit down and talk about the issues that are important to both of us in the state," he said. "He has pushed forth a lot of positive projects in the state of Wisconsin."

"He's the perfect person to have in that position. And, you know, I'm a Democrat, he's a Republican, and you know something? None of that counts because both of our end game is the same thing," Busalacchi said.
