WASHINGTON – Congressman Tom Petri reports that the U.S. Department of Agriculture has awarded a $25,000 grant to the Berlin Community Daycare and Preschool, Inc. This grant is in addition to an earlier grant of $26,100 and a loan of $400,000.

The funds are for the purchase and renovation of an existing daycare facility. Renovations include adding restroom facilities, windows, air conditioning, carpeting, a kitchen and equipment. Licensed childcare will be continued and expanded from 60 to 80 children.

A local church currently owns the facility and is selling the property at an amount that is below the market and assessed value in order to facilitate continued childcare at the site.
