Sheboygan and Westfield Win $500,000 Anti-Drug Grants

WASHINGTON -- Representative Tom Petri today announced that the Family Resource Centers of Sheboygan County and the School District of Westfield will each receive a $500,000 matching grant through the Office of National Drug Control Policy's Drug-Free Communities Support Program. Each will receive $100,000 per year for five years.

The two grants are part of 176 new grants totaling $17.1 million awarded today to community anti-drug coalitions across the country. The goal of the 711 local coalitions is to work together to prevent and reduce drug, alcohol, and tobacco abuse among youth. Coalitions are comprised of diverse groups of people, including community leaders, parents, youth, teachers, religious and fraternal organizations, health care and business professionals, law enforcement, and the media.

"I'm quite pleased that we are getting such strong support for our area's drug control efforts," said Rep. Petri. "The Drug-Free Communities Program is an important element of our national drug control strategy."
