Marquette Receives USDA Funds for Village Hall

WASHINGTON  - Congressman Tom Petri reports that the U.S. Department of Agriculture has approved a $72,250 loan and a grant of $54,250 for the Village of Marquette.

The Rural Development funds will be used to renovate an old gymnasium into a Village Hall and Senior Center.  The current building is old with poor lighting, a leaky roof, no second exit, and an inefficient heating system.

The renovations will include redoing the restrooms to comply with Americans with Disabilities Act regulations, repairing the second exit to comply with building codes, replacing the heating and cooling systems and the roof, and restructuring the walls to create office space, meeting rooms and storage space.

The loan is to be repaid over 20 years at a 4.5 percent interest rate.
