Congressman Tom Petri reports that Oshkosh West High School senior Maxwell Klein has been offered an appointment to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY. He has also been nominated to the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD.
"I congratulate Mr. Klein. It isn't easy to be offered a slot at any of the academies," said Petri. "Also, I want to remind other nominees to the various academies that additional appointments may be offered."
Petri has nominated Omro resident and Lourdes High School senior Anthony E. Beaupre for appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, CO, and to the Naval Academy.
He has nominated Neenah High School senior Alexander Michael Drake for appointment to the Air Force Academy, to the Naval Academy, and to West Point.
And he has nominated Neenah High School senior Jacob Robert Gloudemans for appointment to the Merchant Marine Academy.
Petri's nominees are chosen in an annual non-partisan competition, based on their high school records as judged by a commission of 14 residents of the 6th Congressional District. Final selections are made by the academies. However, Petri says, "Nomination is a major step toward being offered an appointment."
