Horicon Fire Department to Receive Federal Grant

Congressman Tom Petri reports that the Horicon Fire Department will receive a $140,125 grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).  The funds will be used to purchase self-contained breathing equipment.

"Our current equipment is from about 1993, and the majority were purchased by the fire fighters themselves through fundraising activities," explained Fire Chief Jim Bandsma.  "We are having failures because it's so old."
 
"We ask a lot more of fire departments than we used to," said Petri.  "Big cities and small villages all require modern, professional equipment.  I want to congratulate the Horicon Fire Department for succeeding with its grant application to this highly competitive program."
