FOND DU LAC - Two hundred people representing local governments, small businesses, educational institutions and non-profit organizations gathered Thursday at Moraine Park Technical College for a day-long series of seminars on acquiring federal grants. Organized by Rep. Tom Petri, the program featured 34 presenters who headed workshops on identifying and applying for federal funds. The number of participants was twice the Congressman's goal.
"While there are many federal programs available, it's not always as easy as the guy on TV who wears a suit with dollar signs say it is," Petri told the gathering. "One of the things my office can do for you is to help sort out what is possible from those things that aren't as possible as you'd like them to be."
Petri called attention to the "Grants and Federal Domestic Assistance" section of his official Web site, at http://petri.house.gov/grants.shtml , which he said is designed to be a "one-stop source of information on federal grants and programs."
