David Minor, Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations at Ripon College, and a 1968 graduate of the college, visited Friday with Rep. Tom Petri while stopping at the Congressman's Washington office to pick up tickets to Tuesday's presidential inaugural of Barack Obama. Following is a brief interview:
Q. So, you are out here for the inauguration?
A. Yes, made possible by the Hon. Tom Petri, who I've known for many years and who is a good friend of Ripon College and a good friend of higher education. And he has made it possible for us to connect with grants and outreach, and we are proud to have him as our congressman.
And I am grateful that he made it possible for me to attend this historic - some say epic, some say seismic - event. But I'll leave those superlatives to others who are better schooled at such things.
Q. You'll be attending the inauguration itself. Do you have any other plans?
A. There is a Wisconsin Congressional Reception here, and of course the public events. But the balls I'm not able to attend because budget restrictions at my household would not allow full participation! (Audio of Mr. David Minor's interview)
