Petri Receives Award for Financial Literacy Work

WASHINGTON - Congressman Tom Petri received the Assets Policy Champion Award on Sept. 11 for his work as co-chairman of the Congressional Savings and Ownership Caucus(event photo).

The award, presented by the Corporation for Economic Development, is in recognition of Petri's leadership in promoting savings and asset ownership for all Americans.

"The results are so much better for people who have been taught about finances compared to those who haven't.  The difference is amazing," Petri remarked.  "We are going to have to do a lot more to promote economic awareness so that people don't get buried under piles of debt, but instead have assets that can give them economic freedom."
