The National Federation of Independent Business, a leading small business association, has named Rep. Tom Petri a "Guardian of Small Business" for what the association called his "outstanding" voting record on behalf of America's small business owners during the 111th Congress.
At the award event NFIB President and CEO Dan Danner said, "This award is about supporting small business on the issues that are important to America's job creators. We are so glad to give this award to Tom Petri, as a long and consistent supporter of small business."
Petri responded, "People who work hard, take the risk to set up a small business deserve to get help, not be penalized by laws coming from Washington. The environment for many small business people is quite challenging right now, so I'm delighted to receive this award, testifying to the fact that I have been working as best I can to promote small business in Washington."
