Congressman Tom Petri has been recognized by the American Farm Bureau Federation as a Friend of Farm Bureau for his support of Farm Bureau priorities during the 111th Congress.
"We are really pleased and want to congratulate Rep. Petri for his support of Farm Bureau issues over the last Congress," explained Jeff Lyon, the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation's Director of Government Relations. "He has won this award in the past, he has been a true friend of farmers, he understands the business of farming and the difficulties farmers have in making a living, and he has been very receptive to our policy ideas and what we want to accomplish."
"Obviously, in the next Congress there are going to be a whole lot more issues that are going to be very important to agriculture and for farming. And we are very grateful that the Congressman will be back and working on those issues on behalf of the farmers and constituents in his district," he said.
Petri remarked, "Agriculture is very important to Wisconsin - as important as it has ever been. And the Farm Bureau has kept a close eye on how different members of Congress have voted and whether they have worked to help or hinder the success of the family farm in our state. So I'm especially delighted to receive their Friend of the Farm Bureau Award for my service in Congress."
