Rep. Tom Petri is welcoming Japanese Ambassador Ichiro Fujisaki to Wisconsin Nov. 3 to learn about the region and build relationships.
Rep. Petri and Amb. Fujisaki will visit Lincoln High School in Manitowoc from 9:45 to 11 a.m. There they will meet with students, including the 87 participating in the school's Japanese program.
Next, the pair will travel to City Hall for a driving tour of the city with Mayor Justin Nickels.
Lunch will be at 11:45 p.m. at Orion Energy Systems with representatives of the Manitowoc International Relations Association, which oversees the Manitowoc-Kamogawa (Japan) Sister City Program.
From 1:45 to 3 p.m. Rep. Petri and Amb. Fujisaki will attend a reception at Lakeland College in Plymouth. The college has a campus in Tokyo and hosts Japanese students for a semester in Wisconsin.
Also, Rep. Petri will introduce the Ambassador to a number of local business leaders. "Japan is the fourth largest export market for Wisconsin products, and I want our manufacturers to have the best possible contacts with the people there," Rep. Petri said.
