Rep. Tom Petri joined thousands of citizens who made a "House Call" outside the U.S. House of Representatives Thursday to protest the mammoth health care bill which Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the House Democrats are planning to push through the House Saturday. Petri said of the rally:
"I think it's tremendous that thousands of people would take time out from their busy days to drive to Washington to express their concern about the direction the country's going in and the priorities that have been set in the Congress, and the concern about a very poorly organized and constructed, massive overhaul of the health care system in the United States.
"I have no question but that it's a worthwhile expenditure of time. The concern, the patriotism and the focus of the people who are here is sure to have an impact. It may not overnight, but it's definitely making a difference. And each of these meetings in districts around the country and here in Washington adds to the impact of the others."
