We pray for the safety of our men and women in the armed forces as they serve in Afghanistan and Iraq. It is shocking to find that we need to pray for their safety as well when they are serving within our borders.
I am anguished by the death of Staff Sgt. Amy Krueger of Kiel, who joined the service in response to 9/11, who served in Afghanistan, and who took as her motto, “All gave some, some gave all. Sacrifice."
I join Rep. Ryan in mourning the loss of Captain Russell Seager of Mount Pleasant down near Racine. All of those who were lost at Ft. Hood are in my thoughts and prayers.
I am thankful that Private First Class Amber Bahr of Random Lake is back on her feet, and I am proud that, despite having been shot, she acted heroically by tending to the wounds of another soldier.
Finally, I want to note what a privilege it is to attend the memorial service at Ft. Hood. I'm sure all of the 6th District would be here as well to honor our soldiers, if that were possible.
