Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives launched an online citizens forum May 25th, and Rep. Tom Petri urged his constituents to participate.
"We are taking some of the techniques developed by Facebook and other social media to engage the public in an open and extensive conversation," said Petri. "We are committed to our core values of limited, cost-effective government, but we want to hear what everybody has to say about public policy. As we work out our agenda for governing, we want to be in touch with the American people, with their concerns and priorities."
The new AmericaSpeakingOut.com website gives people the opportunity to submit ideas, rate those of others, and post their comments. House Republicans will also go on the site and interact with users.
Petri suggests that 6th Congressional District constituents access the site through the link provided on the Congressman's home page at http://petri.house.gov/.
