Another ARRA Success Story – New Funds Mean More Jobs in Monroe

Monroe, MI - Celebrating another successful project funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), Congressman John D. Dingell (D-MI15) joined with executives from Ventower Industries, Monroe Mayor Robert E. Clark and representatives from the Michigan Department of Energy Labor and Economic Growth (DeLEG) to discuss how a $2.3 million grant and $1.2 million loan from the Clean Energy Advanced Manufacturing Program will create more jobs in the area.  Ventower will utilize this funding to build up to 300 wind turbine towers per year, employing up to 176 full-time personnel in the first phase of operations.

“This is a sign of confidence from the federal government in the work Ventower is doing,” Dingell said.  “The stimulus funds have helped get this Monroe facility off the ground, and this award proves that the Recovery Act is producing tangible results.  Job creation is critical to producing a sustained recovery, and Ventower will create good paying green jobs thanks to this award. Now, we’re in a position to make it a long term success – which is good for Michigan’s economy and the nation’s environment.”

Ventower's CEO & President Gregory Adanin added: "We are honored to be part of Michigan's Clean Energy Advanced Manufacturing initiative.  Our state leaders support of funding opportunities, like this most recent one funded by the federal Recovery Act, truly shows a shared commitment to our state's strong manufacturing community."

Since receiving the federal funding, Ventower’s facility construction is progressing as scheduled. Ventower Industries intends to become a full-service manufacturer and supplier of wind turbine towers used to support utility-scale wind turbines. Ventower’s success is evidence that the stimulus is working and creating good paying jobs in the industries of the future right here in Southeast Michigan.  This award adds on to nearly $9 million in additional federal funding already dedicated to the project.
