Dingell Visits Cybernet Systems, Voices Continued Support for Employee Stock Ownership Programs

Ypsilanti, MI
– Today, Congressman John Dingell (D-MI15) visited Cybernet System Corporation in Pittsfield Township, Michigan to meet with workers and tour the facility where the company researches and develops robotics, human-computer interaction, mechanical and electrical engineering, and defense-related technologies.  Cybernet is a certified 8(a), woman-owned small business.

“I am impressed by the fine work Cybernet’s scientists and workers are doing,” said Dingell.  “The technologies produced here are nothing short of cutting-edge.  Companies like Cybernet show that the United States has the know-how and skilled workers to remain at the forefront of global economy.  The work done at Cybernet is also ample illustration of the benefits of government investment in private enterprise and the dire need to make permanent the federal research and development tax credit.”

Representatives of the Monroe Publishing Company were also present during Dingell’s visit to Cybernet, during which the Congressman was provided with a briefing on the benefits of employee stock ownership programs (ESOPs) and asked for his continued support of them.

“I have long supported ESOPs and will continue to do so in the future.  I believe ESOPs provide a valuable means by which to improve employee participation in corporate decision-making,” added Dingell.

During the Congressional District Work Period, Dingell has met with dozens of small business in Michigan’s 15th District to learn more about they work they are doing and how he can continue to be helpful and responsive to their needs in Washington, DC.  In addition to hosting a large small business forum with Eastern Michigan University in which more than 100 local small businesses participated, Dingell hosted a roundtable in Monroe with small business leaders, hosted a manufacturing roundtable in Dearborn with small manufacturers from the 15th District, toured local downtown shops in Ann Arbor and met with local business owner, toured local farms in Monroe and Washtenaw, met with workers at Michigan Aerospace, Accio Energy, GDI InfoTech, and HealthMedia, all Ann Arbor small businesses, and celebrated with Sunrise Windows in Temperance for reaching the milestone of 1,500,000 windows manufactured.  Congressman Dingell has hosted numerous events to promote job creation, including the Rehiring, Retraining and Relief Fair, two How to Get Hired Fairs, and a Job Seekers’ Boot Camp.
