Small Craft Intruder Detection/Prevention And Facility Boundary Intruder  Prevention/Detection/Response Project

This project would improve local, state, and federal abilities to properly deter, detect, interdict, and respond to any potential threats in the Houston Ship Channel and Port Of Houston.   It will do so by increasing security through improved abilities to properly deter, detect, interdict, and respond to any potential threats in the Houston Ship Channel and the Port of Houston.  This serves local and national interest because of the importance of these assets to the nation.  The Port of Houston is a 25-mile-long complex of public and private facilities that is ranked first in the United States in foreign waterborne tonnage and second in the U.S. in total tonnage.  Any disruption has significant impacts on local and regional trade and commerce, and this greatly enhance security at the Port.

Patient Emergency Relocation System (Pers)

This funding will be used to construct a patient emergency relocation system (PERS).  This system will facilitate patient transfers, including moving during emergency conditions, such as natural disasters and acts of terrorism.  The construction of the PERS represent shovel-ready projects which TMC is prepared to commence as soon as the costs associated with its construction have been secured.  Construction of one PERS (there are 3 total) will create 250 good paying jobs.  As the largest medical community in the world with 48 member institutions, including 13 hospitals, two medical schools, and four nursing schools, the Texas Medical Center's Patient Emergency Relocation System will benefit individuals from all walks of life and every social circumstance, whether residing in the Greater Houston Metropolitan Area or in other parts of the United States and the world.
