Goodlatte Announces $2.2 Million Federal Grant For Roanoke Regional Airport

Washington, DC: Today Congressman Bob Goodlatte announced that Roanoke Regional Airport has been awarded $2.2 million in grant money from the U.S. Department of Transportation.  The funding will be used to rehabilitate Taxiway T, as well as to provide important drainage improvements in the general aviation area.

“I am pleased to announce this vital funding for the Roanoke Regional Airport.  Improvements like the updated taxiway will put Roanoke Regional Airport squarely into aviation’s 21st century.  This development spells good news for our efforts to continue to make the Roanoke Valley a business and tourism destination.”

“This funding will permit us to begin the final phase of the complete rehabilitation of all airfield pavements. Grants such as this have permitted the taxiways and runways of this 79 year old facility to look and perform like new.” said Jacqueline L. Shuck, Executive Director for the Roanoke
Regional Airport Commission.
