Industrial production fell 0.2% in September. This marks the first time production has declined since turning positive in July of 2009 (a 0.02% decline in February rounded to no change).
Housing starts unexpectedly edged up 0.3% to an annual rate of 610,000 units in September.
Building permits fell 5.6% to an annual pace of 539,000 in September.
Initial jobless claims fell by 23,000 to 452,000 for the week ended October 16th.
