Alabama Congressmen to honor Ingram

WASHINGTON | Alabama Congressmen Artur Davis (D-Tuscaloosa) and Spencer Bachus (R-Vestavia Hills) will introduce a resolution in the U.S. House of Representatives honoring the University of Alabama running back Mark Ingram on being the university's first player to win the Heisman Trophy.

'Mark Ingram has done what a 75-year line of great Alabama players have never managed to accomplish - winning the prestigious Heisman Trophy,' Davis said in a statemetn released through is office. 'Our entire state is proud of his excellence and the humility he continues to demonstrate.'

Bachus also hailed Ingram's achievement in a statement: 'Mark Ingram's accomplishments on the football field have deservedly been recognized nationally, but what makes him a true winner is his excellent character. He is an outstanding ambassador for the University of Alabama and stands as an example for all young people of what can be achieved through hard work and determination, overcoming adversity, and putting others first.'

Ingram, a sophomore at Alabama, was awarded the trophy last Saturday night in New York City.
