Sen. Harkin walks along the outside of the GHESKIO Center with an USAID staff member. The Center was established by the USAID, U.S. Centers for Disease Control and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to treat out breaks of TB, HIV and AIDS in Haiti. It has been temporarily converted in to a trauma center for earthquake victims. Harkin previously visited the Center in October 2007.

The bipartisan, bicameral Congressional delegation, joined by DCM Lindwall and Lt. Gen. Keen stand in front of the Cathedral in Port Au Prince, Haiti after honoring the victims of the earthquake with a moment of silence. The delegation traveled there to survey damage from the earthquake and learn about what the Haitians and the U.S. government agencies will need for the ongoing relief effort.

Jennifer Meinders of Cedar Falls, IA meets with Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) to discuss health issues following an event to promote his bill aimed at improving children's health. The Child Nutrition Promotion & School Lunch Protection Act would get junk food out of America's schools by allowing the USDA to establish school nutrition standards for all foods in schools.

Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) and his long-time legislative aide, Richard Bender, participate in the groundbreaking of the new Federal courthouse in Cedar Rapids. The Courthouse has been on a list to be rebuilt for over 15 years. Last summer's floods moved Cedar Rapids up in need, allowing the process to proceed with funding secured by Harkin.
