Congresswoman Kilpatrick to Host Health Care Town Hall Meeting

Lawmaker Seeks to Keep Constituents Informed and Involved in Creating Remedy for Health Care Challenges

 

 

Detroit, MI — Congresswoman Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick (MI-13) will host a town hall meeting on health care on Saturday, October 24, 2009, from 10:30 a.m.-12:00 noon. The purpose of the event is to provide residents of the 13th Congressional District with an update and opportunity to share their concerns about the health care legislation being discussed in Congress. The meeting will be held at Triumph Church, located at 2760 East Grand Blvd. (at I-75) in Detroit. The forum is open to the public.

 

“Health care is an issue that is very important to all families in the 13th Congressional District, across Michigan, and throughout America. The town hall meeting will give residents a chance to share their concerns about health care reform,” said Congresswoman Kilpatrick. “I encourage constituents to join me for this discussion. I am interested in hearing your ideas and suggestions.”

 

Panelists will discuss health care reform and its impact on seniors, small businesses, and the uninsured and underinsured, as well as how reform will affect the 13th Congressional District. Speakers include:

·         Ms. Roberta Sanders, Executive Director, New Center Community Mental Health Services

·         Dr. Herbert Smitherman, Assistant Dean of Community and Urban Health, Wayne State University
