Funds Will Give More Than 375,000 Veterans Continued Access to Vision Care
Washington, DC — Congresswoman
Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick (MI-13) today announced that more than $3.7
million in funding is available to improve the eye clinic at the VA
Medical Center in Detroit. Renovations are expected to begin late this
summer. Funding for the project is included in the Fiscal Year 2009
Appropriations Bill.
“Ensuring
that the men and women who serve our country receive quality care and
services is one of my top priorities,” said Congresswoman Kilpatrick.
“These federal funds will provide more than 375,000 veterans in the
13th Congressional District and throughout Michigan with access to much
needed vision care.”
During
Fiscal Year 2008, the eye clinic provided outpatient services to
373,000 veterans and treated 4,000 veterans during hospital stays.
