Many of you want to know about federal appropriations requests and how they work. These requests are often called “earmarks.” These funds can have a positive impact on our communities, our state, and our country when they are used for projects that help people.
I am the only Michigan member of the U.S. House of Representatives Full Appropriations Committee. I want to make sure your dollars are used wisely. Requests focus on many issues. These include economic development, education, energy, the environment, defense/military, health care, and transportation.
The federal appropriations process is long and complex. It includes 12 different bills. I want to follow House Appropriations Committee rules. I also want to help you understand the process. Therefore, you can find information about all the requests submitted to my office here.
