WASHINGTON (June 7, 2010)—Today at an event in Bourbon County, Congressman Chandler joined county and fire officials to announce the allocation of $185,250 in federal funding to the Clintonville Volunteer Fire Department. This money will be used to purchase a fire truck for the department.
“I am surrounded by heroes right now,” Chandler said. “As volunteer firefighters, these brave men and women put their lives on the line every day to protect their neighbors out of the goodness of their hearts. I am honored to be able help them get the equipment they need to keep themselves and Bourbon County safe.”
The federal funding announced today was allocated through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The Vehicle Acquisition program in the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) is funding that is awarded to local fire departments and departments of emergency medical services to pay for training and equipment.
