WASHINGTON (April 7, 2010)—Today at a press conference at City Hall in Stamping Ground, Congressman Ben Chandler announced $30,000 in federal funding to the City of Stamping Ground to finance new security and communications equipment for local law enforcement.
“These brave men and women put their lives on the line each day for Scott County,” Congressman Chandler said. “This equipment is the very least we can do to help them in their fight to protect the citizens of Stamping Ground and the whole of Scott County.”
At the conclusion of his remarks, Chandler presented Stamping Ground Mayor Jared Hollon with a check for the new funds.
The funding will enable the city to purchase mobile data terminals and other equipment necessary for dealing with emergencies, accidents, and crime scenes. This improved communication will result in faster emergency response times, more secure communications, additional coverage in rural areas, and will ultimately increase public safety.
Chandler concluded: “It is more important than ever in these tough economic times to provide our first responders with the equipment they need to keep this region safe.”
