WASHINGTON (March 9, 2010)—Today at an event at the Police and Municipal Building in Berea, Congressman Chandler joined county and fire officials to announce the allocation of $71,725 in federal funding to the Red Lick Volunteer Fire Department. This money will be used to purchase a fire truck for the department.
“Every single day, you selflessly put your lives on the line to protect your neighbors and the whole of Madison County,” Chandler said. “Red Lick is also a volunteer fire department. Each person here volunteers their own time and energy to protect the people of this community. You do so much—helping you all get a better fire truck is the very least we can do.”
This federal funding was allocated through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) is a grant awarded to local fire departments and departments of emergency medical services to pay for training and equipment.
