Chandler Announces $8 Million for Lexington Veterans Affairs Facilities

WASHINGTON (July 10, 2009)—Today, Congressman Ben Chandler announced $8,364,000 in federal funding for renovations to the Cooper Drive Veterans Affairs facility in Lexington.  This money will provide much-needed renovations to the facility and will improve quality of care.

“Our brave men and women in uniform served their county—now our country needs to serve them,” Chandler said.  “This money will help our veterans while also creating more jobs right here in Central Kentucky. It is a win-win.”

The Cooper Drive facility will receive $5,897,000 to renovate the 3rd floor for privacy, intensive care, and access and $2,467,000 to renovate the emergency room.  The total amount allocated for this facility will be $8,364,000.

“Our Central Kentucky veterans sacrificed so much for our country,” Chandler said, “we have a duty to give them best health care we can.”
