WASHINGTON (July 26, 2006) Congressman Ben Chandler will be in Powell County on Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at 3:30 PM at the Senior Citizens Center.  Chandler will be presenting a check for $38,000. 

The funds will be used by the Senior Citizens Center to help purchase a new bus to transport seniors in Powell County. 

“I am pleased to have secured this money for the Powell County Senior Citizens Center,” said Congressman Chandler.  “I hope these funds will enhance the lives of seniors and make getting around a little easier.” 

The bus will be used to deliver meals to seniors.  It will also be used to transport seniors to necessary errands such as grocery shopping and banking.  The bus will take seniors to medical appointments and other essential activities.
