WASHINGTON (April 19, 2006)
Congressman Ben Chandler will be in Powell County on Friday, April 21st at 2:00 PM to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the Powell County Veterans
Park. Chandler was able to secure $150,000 for the park and will be presenting a ceremonial check to County Judge
Executive Bobby Drake.
The money was included as part of the
FY06 Transportation-Treasury-Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Act.
“The Veterans Park will be a
tremendous asset to Powell County,” said Congressman Chandler. “I am pleased the citizens of Powell County will have a space where they can go to
reflect upon the contributions made by our veterans.”
Congressman Chandler worked very closely
with County Judge Executive Bobby Drake to get the funds included in the FY06 Transportation-Treasury-HUD bill.
President Bush signed the bill into law on November 30, 2005.
