To make a request for assistance with a Federal Agency to one of my district offices through an email please click here.
As your federal legislator, I may be able to assist you with a problem you have regarding a federal agency. If you have a problem and have not been successful at resolving it, my staff and I welcome the opportunity to intervene on your behalf with a federal agency, such as the Veterans' Administration, Social Security Administration or Citizens and Immigration Services. We will do everything we can to help resolve the problem you've encountered. However, please keep in mind that there are some limits to the assistance we can provide:
- While I can make inquiries on your behalf about the status of pending cases before a federal agency, I cannot force a federal government agency to decide an issue in your favor, or to overturn a decision that is final.
- My jurisdiction is limited to the federal government. If you are seeking assistance with a case that involves a state or local government agency, my office will direct you to the appropriate NY State Senator, NY State Assembly member or local representative who can best address your situation.
- I cannot intervene in any case that involves a lawsuit or litigation. If you are involved in a pending legal proceeding and need the services of an attorney, you should contact the New York State Bar Association at (800) 342-3661.
In order for us to initiate an inquiry into your problem with a federal agency and work to resolve it as quickly as possible, please provide the following information by mail, fax or email:
- A clear and concise letter explaining the nature of your problem and the outcome you are seeking;
- Any relevant identification numbers, such as your Social Security number, passport number, or case number; and
- Please make sure you include a daytime phone number, your home address and email address (if applicable) to enable my staff to reach you should more information be needed.
My staff is also happy to assist you with questions regarding how legislation can personally effect you.
