Congressman Connie Mack (FL-14) submitted the following requests on May 14, 2009, on behalf of Southwest Florida for the 2009 Highway Surface Reauthorization Bill:
CHARLOTTE COUNTY:
U.S. 41 Enhancement: SR-776 to North Port ($9 million requested): This funding will be used for the design and construction of U.S. 41 Corridor improvements. Improvements to this approximately five-mile segment of U.S. 41 will include a widening from four to six lanes with modifications to a number of existing intersections, upgrading the signalization, and drainage system improvements.
LEE COUNTY:
SR-78 Widening (Chiquita Boulevard to Burnt Store Road) ($25 million requested): This project includes the widening of SR-78 from two lanes to four lanes from Chiquita Boulevard to Burnt Store Road. In addition, this funding will be used for right-of-way acquisition and construction.
COLLIER COUNTY:
I-75/Davis Boulevard SR-84/Collier Boulevard/SR-951 ($20 million requested): This funding will be used for the complete design and re-construction of the interchange I-75, SR/CR-951 (Collier Boulevard) and Davis Boulevard SR-84. Funds will be used for the next appropriate phase, which may include design, right-of-way, mitigation or construction, depending on funding.
CR/SR 951 at U.S. 41: Intersection Improvement ($20 million requested): This funding will be used for the design and construction of grade-separated intersection improvements at U.S. 41 and CR/SR 951 (Collier Boulevard).
NOTE: These are only requests; they have not been funded by Congress yet.
