Fond du Lac Student in DC for Children's Burn Camp

WASHINGTON -- Fond du Lac High School freshman Nicole Zills is in Washington, DC currently to attend a week-long Fire Fighters National Children's Burn Camp.

She met with Congressman Tom Petri at a breakfast Tuesday in the U.S. Capitol Building where she explained to the Congressman that when she was six months old a hot water vaporizer fell on her, resulting in a burn from scalding. She said the burn camp was giving her an opportunity to meet other burn survivors her age from around the country.

The Fire Fighters National Children's Burn Camp is a project of the IAFF Burn Foundation. For 20 years, the Burn Foundation has been dedicated to burn prevention and education, burn research, and improving the quality of life for burn survivors. The Foundation has become the largest non-governmental source for burn research grants and sponsors Burn Camps throughout the nation for young burn victims, including the Fire Fighters National Children's Burn Camp held in Washington each fall.
