Social Security
Introduction | Press Releases | Legislation
Rep. Markey is a firm believer in the benefits of social security. Social Security is the nation's retirement plan – the only plan for the majority of workers with no pension. In addition to fighting to preserve the system instituted by President Roosevelt, Rep. Markey is committed to ensuring the system remains solvent and has battled efforts to privatize the system. He is committed to ensuring the public has honest and reliable information on the program and that beneficiaries receive adequate cost-of-living adjustments. Rep Markey has also worked to ensure that social security numbers remain private.
