Academy Nominations

Each member of Congress, either in the House of Representatives or the Senate, is allowed a total of five appointees in each service academy. For each vacancy, I am allowed to nominate ten individuals. Learn more about the Service Academy Nomination process.

Digital TV

On June 12, 2009 all major broadcast television stations in the United States, including ABC, NBC and CBS, stopped broadcasting on analog airwaves and begin broadcasting only in digital. Analog airwaves were the traditional signal used for TV broadcasts and took up an enormous amount of spectrum space on our public airwaves which could be used for other purposes. In contrast, digital television takes up less spectrum space and offers consumers improved picture and sound quality as well as additional channels.

Internships

I run an internship program accepting college students interested in learning about the operations of a congressional office. In addition to general office support, interns assist my staff with constituent services, Capitol tours, and legislative research. Interns are also encouraged to attend hearings, lectures, and seminars available in Congress and around the Hill.

Kids Page

Page Program

High school juniors are eligible work as Pages in the U.S. House of Representatives for a fall or spring. There is no GPA requirement for Pages who work during the summer semester. While serving the House, Pages live in Washington D.C., at the Page Residence Hall, a few blocks away from the Capitol. During the academic year, Pages attend classes at the House Page School.
