Campbell Opposes Democrat ‘Cap and Tax’ Legislation

WASHINGTON - Today House Democrats strong armed H.R. 2454, the Clean Energy and Security Act, otherwise known as ‘Cap and Tax' legislation through the House of Representatives. It passed by a vote of 219 to 212.

In a statement Campbell said, "This is one of the worst pieces of legislation I have seen since I have been in Congress. Not only does it massively expand the tax burden of each and every American family, but it will actually result in massive job losses across the nation. President Obama and Congressional Democrats have consistently and blatantly saddled the American economy with a massive debt that far outreaches the fiscal recklessness of the previous administration, first with the passage of the ‘non-stimulative stimulus package' and now by deliberately and artificially increasing the cost of American Energy in every American household and business for the purpose of accomplishing nothing. A simple cost-benefit analysis should tell you that this legislation is ridiculous and it doesn't add up."

Congressman Campbell voted ‘No' on H.R. 2454 and recently added his name as a cosponsor of H.R. 2828, the American Energy Innovation Act. This legislation represents a fiscally responsible approach to reducing our dependence on foreign energy, providing a cleaner environment, and putting Americans to work by:
