WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Health Care Solutions Group Chairman Roy Blunt today blasted the Democrats’ plan to cut more than $500 billion from Medicare in HR 3200, saying: “If we can find $500 billion in cuts to Medicare that won’t impact seniors’ care, it should be reinvested in Medicare, a program that virtually all experts agree is on the verge of insolvency.”
House Democrats’ health care plan would cut $500 billion from Medicare, $172 billion of which would come from Medicare Advantage, resulting in reduced benefits for seniors.
More than 10 million seniors who get their coverage through Medicare Advantage will see their benefits cut, or will have to change plans or pay out of pocket, according to the Annenberg Public Policy Center.
“These arbitrary cuts to Medicare Advantage would cause millions of seniors to lose their current coverage,” Blunt said. “Any changes to our nation’s health care system most certainly shouldn’t be on the backs of seniors.”
