Rep. Marchant Meets with Tarrant County Residents

Irving, Texas, Oct 8 -

Congressman Kenny Marchant (TX-24) met with Tarrant County residents on Monday to discuss the House Republicans’ new Pledge to America.

Marchant spoke on key action items in the Pledge, including repeal of the health care law, roll back discretionary spending to 2008 levels (before the bailouts and stimulus), and require a citation of constitutional authority for every bill.  Following opening remarks, Marchant spent the remainder of the evening taking questions from the audience. More than 75 people attended.

“The Pledge to America is a solemn promise from House Republicans to the American people,” said Marchant. “I have heard your concerns about federal government overreach and the excessive spending and taxation that damage our economy and prevent true recovery. And I am here to say enough is enough. In the upcoming lame-duck session, I will oppose any attempts to pass non-emergency legislation that contradicts our pledge to you.”

Congressman Marchant has made the Pledge to America and the Preamble available on his website. You can also visit www.pledge.gop.gov to download a copy.
