Rep. Lofgren Comments on the Introduction of the Affordable Health Care for America Act |
October 29, 2009 Washington, D.C. –Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) issued the following statement in response to the official unveiling of the Affordable Health Care for America Act today. This bill is much more than just the amalgamation of three previous health care bills, it is a testament to the legislative process and compromise. I commend Speaker Pelosi for her efforts in assembling this legislation and bringing our caucus together. This bill is an honest commitment to quality, affordable health care for all Americans. The Affordable Health Care for America Act would help extend insurance coverage to an estimated 96 percent of all Americans while at the same time reducing the deficit. The inclusion of a “public option” will ensure that American’s have real choice in insurance options and will introduce healthy competition into the health insurance market place. I look forward to the upcoming floor debate on this historic bill and its eventual passage into law. Click here for additional facts on H.R. 3962, the Affordable Health Care for America Act.
