Congressman Pete Sessions believes that his leadership with congressional caucuses, community service boards, and other various groups benefit the greater Dallas area. Furthermore, his service has been recognized with many awards and accomplishments – a few of which are listed below. He is proud of these achievements and to represent the interests of North Texans in Congress.


Congressional Caucuses

Congressional Down Syndrome Caucus, Co-Chair –  As the parent of a young man with Down syndrome, Congressman Sessions is proud to lead the Congressional Down Syndrome Caucus is to educate Members of Congress and their staff about Down syndrome and to promote research and public policies that would enhance the quality of life for individuals with Down syndrome

Missile Defense Caucus, Co-Chair – Recognizing the ballistic missile threat from rogue states, strategic military rivals, and terrorists, the Missile Defense Caucus supports providing for the defense of the American people, our warfighters and our national interests by advancing a layered and robust missile defense that utilizes land, air, sea, and space.

Immigration Reform Caucus – The Immigration Reform Caucus was established to review current immigration policy, propose new immigration policies and provide a forum in Congress for addressing the positive and negative consequences of our immigration policies. Here in Congress, the Caucus hopes to focus on three primary areas: illegal immigration, legal immigration and voter reform.

Congressional Mental Health Caucus  Focusing on bipartisan work, the Congressional Mental Health Caucus is designed to discuss awareness and find solutions on improving mental health care and its delivery to every American - especially to our veterans who are suffering from Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

RSC Sunset Caucus As a member of the Republican Study Committee (RSC), Congressman Sessions supports the RSC Sunset Caucus to  to protecting taxpayers and shrink the size of government – one wasteful, duplicative, or unnecessary program at a time.

Congressional Missing and Exploited Children’s Caucus – Congressman Sessions works with several other Members of the U.S. House to raise awareness of missing and exploited children and provide a voice on these critical issues in Congress.

Congressional Diabetes Caucus – Congressman Sessions, along with other Members of Congress, is dedicated to increasing the awareness of diabetes in Congress and promoting greater research into diabetes and diabetes related complications.

House Navy/Marine Corps Caucus – Congressman Sessions has become a leader in advocating the interests of the Navy and Marine Corps. As a member of this caucus, he joins with his colleagues in the House of Representatives to show support for the service of our nation's sailors and Marines.

Congressional Caucus to Fight and Control Methamphetamine – Congressman Sessions is an active member of the bipartisan congressional caucus to bring the growing nationwide problems and dangers associated with the abuse and production of methamphetamine to the attention of Members of Congress.

House Law Enforcement Caucus –  As a member of the House Law Enforcement Caucus,  Congressman Sessions has worked with his colleagues in Congress to improve public safety with a comprehensive approach to national security and homeland defense efforts in Texas and across the nation. 
    

Community Service Boards

Circle Ten Council, Boy Scouts of America – Congressman Sessions has been associated with the Boy Scouts of America since 1965. As an Eagle Scout, former Scout Master to 13 Scouts, district chairman for the White Rock district, and parent of two scouts with Troop 890 in Dallas, Congressman Sessions is honored to serve as an executive member of the council. He also serves as a committee member of the National Eagle Scout Association.

HomeAid Dallas – As an Advisory Board Member for HomeAid Dallas, Congressman Sessions is pleased to support the work of HomeAid Dallas/Home Builders Care, a program that increases the availability of dignified housing for homeless families and individuals committed to turning their lives around.

Dallas Northeast Chamber of Commerce – Since 1989, Congressman Sessions has been an active member of the Chamber, serving as its Chairman prior to his election. His duties as an Advisory Board member keep him in touch with this community-based chamber.

Disciples of Holy Trinity – Since 1990, Congressman Sessions has served as an Advisory Committee member for this important organization, which supports terminally-ill individuals and family members as they approach the end of their life.

United States/Mexico Chamber of Commerce – Congressman Sessions was selected as an honorary member of the bilateral organization to promote trade, investment and joint ventures on both sides of the border. He has been a member since May 21, 1999 and continues to help businesses bridge differences in legal, regulatory and economic systems, as well as language and culture.

Southwestern University – Since 2007, Congressman Sessions has served as a trustee of Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. Pete graduated from Southwestern University in 1978 with a B.S. in Political Science.

For the Love of the Lake – In Adopt–A–Shoreline, Congressman Sessions has been an active team leader since 1996 and responsible for cleaning up a section of the west side of White Rock Lake. It is perhaps one of his favorite opportunities to be outside with friends and scouters to ensure that two of his favorite messages, volunteerism and conservation, are demonstrated within the community.

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation – Congressman Sessions has worked with the foundation since 2001 and continues to take initiative on legislation in order to help the organization work towards its goal of finding a cure for juvenile diabetes. He was instrumental in joining President Bush in supporting the doubling of their funding.

White Rock YMCA – With his long-time involvement with YMCA chapters, Congressman Sessions is pleased to be a member of the Board of Management for the White Rock YMCA. He believes that community centers like YMCA serve a vital role in building a brighter future for families and neighborhoods, providing opportunities for physical, mental and spiritual growth.
