Westmoreland Congratulates Congressman-Elect Austin Scott (GA-08) on His Election as Freshman Class President
Washington,
Nov 18 -
In an important step for the state of Georgia, the Republican freshman class elected Congressman-Elect Austin Scott (GA-08) to serve as their president. The freshman class president serves as a representative of the newly elected Republican members in several leadership positions, including a position on the House Republican Steering Committee. Below is Congressman Lynn Westmoreland’s statement on Scott’s election.
“I am thrilled for Congressman-Elect Scott and want to congratulate him on his well deserved position. Throughout his hard-fought campaign, I was able to see first-hand his strong leadership qualities, his conservative credentials, and his dedication to improving the lives of Georgians. I know he will be a great representative for this large and historic incoming class. His election is also a great victory for the state of Georgia. In addition to Congressman Tom Price (GA-06) who was elected Chairman of the Republican Policy Committee for the 112th Congress, Congressman-Elect Scott will be yet another Georgia voice at the leadership table.”
“I would also like to extend my congratulations to Vivian Scott, Congressman-Elect Scott’s wife. In an unprecedented move, Vivian was elected to serve as the leader of the spouses of the freshman members. Although it’s only a ceremonial title, her selection by her peers is just one more example of Georgia’s growing influence in Washington,” stated Westmoreland.
