The Committee granted, by a non-record vote, a rule providing for consideration of the Senate amendment to H.R. 5501, the “Tom Lantos and Henry J. Hyde United States Global Leadership Against HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria Reauthorization Act of 2008.”  The rule makes in order a motion by the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs to concur in the Senate amendment.  The rule waives all points of order against the motion except clause 10 of rule XXI.  The rule provides that the Senate amendment and the motion shall be considered as read.  The rule provides one hour of debate on the motion equally divided and controlled by the chairman and ranking minority member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs.  The rule further provides that the Chair may postpone further consideration of the motion to a time designated by the Speaker.
