Klobuchar Greets Cyclists on United Health Ride 2 Recovery

St. Paul, MN – On the steps of the Minnesota State Capitol today, U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar greeted cyclists participating in the United Health Ride 2 Recovery to improve the health and wellness of injured veterans.  The seven-day, 430-mile bike ride features more than 150 participants – including over 100 wounded veterans – riding to raise attention and support for the Ride 2 Recovery program. The ride began in Edina and will culminate at the American Legion National Conference in Milwaukee.  Klobuchar met riders at their first rest stop.    

“I was honored to greet these riders at the first stop on their inspiring journey,” Klobuchar said.  “I have always said that this is a nation where we wrap our arms around our veterans, and the participants in Ride 2 Recovery are doing exactly that by riding to make sure our wounded warriors have a successful path to recovery.”

The Ride 2 Recovery Great Lakes Challenge, sponsored by UnitedHealthcare, supports R2R indoor Spinning(R) Recovery Labs and outdoor cycling programs at Veterans Affairs (VA) locations around the United States, aiding the rehabilitation and recovery efforts of injured veterans.  

Klobuchar has been a strong advocate for veterans and introduced legislation in May to urge the VA to develop a modern, one-stop, user-friendly Web site that provides comprehensive information and advice for veterans.

Representative Erik Paulsen also greeted riders stopping at the Minnesota State Capitol.
