Klobuchar Chairs First Senate Hearing Since Second Blizzard Hit D.C.

Six judge judiciary nomination hearing dubbed "snowmination hearing"

February 11, 2010

(Washington, D.C.) – Following in the tradition of hearty Minnesotans braving snow and cold, U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar chaired the Senate's first post-blizzard hearing today; Representative Jim Oberstar chaired one of the few House hearings this week.  Most Senate hearings were cancelled today and throughout the week due to the record snowfall that hit the D.C. metro region.  So far this winter season Washington, D.C. has received a record 54.9 inches of snow, the most in recorded history surpassing the previous record set in 1898.

Klobuchar chaired a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on six nominations to the federal district court.  The six individuals who have been nominated are: Gloria Navarro of Nevada; Audrey Fleissig of Missouri; Lucy Koh of California; and Jon DeGuilio, Tanya Walton Pratt, and Jane Magnus-Stinson, all of Indiana.

Senator Jeff Sessions, Republican of Alabama and ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, co-chaired the hearing.
